BRIEF

The Scottish Gaelic broadcaster MG ALBA approached me to create some cinematic posters for their finest TV shows and short films. They supplied some excellent source photography and desired that the posters have a ‘cinematic’ feel. The posters would go on display in the reception of their main building and make a lasting first impression of the high-quality output of the station.

Approach

I took a different approach for each poster.
At times, the main image did all of the work and our job was to craft the other elements around it. The elements added framed the image and were secondary.
Other times, I felt there was scope to merge dynamic type or logo elements with the original images.
But on each poster, it was important not to make the posters too busy and risk the immediacy of their impact. I also gave each one have its character and is a true reflection of the spirit of each show.

8 Posters were produced and displayed at the reception area of the MG ALBA Building in Stornoway.
